826 LA is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students from ages 6-18 with creative writing and helping teachers inspire students to write. They have programs for students that help build creativity and make you enjoy writing while making it feel like its not a chore. They also provide tutoring on the weekend so if you need help they are always here to give a helping hand. They also have field trips to expand your writing skills along with experience for the future.
On weekends 12-20 kids embark on a writing metric learning activity. Each workshop is different but they are all based around creative writing. Students have produced television show segments, mimed performances, and toothpick bridges. On 2013, 826LA opened its first writers room at Manual Arts which I had the pleasure of seeing for myself and met the person in charge of the room. His name is Marco Beltran. He is a very fun and funny guy to talk and learn from if you want to expand your creative writing.
