There have been a total of 161 people arrested, according to U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement 151 of the ones arrested had prior criminal convictions. ICE had been on a five- day enforcement targeting ones with criminal records, illegal re- entrants, as well with immigration fugitives. Although ICE has been doing raids and sweeps they don’t go to areas where immigrants would be indiscriminately targeted . The operation targets public safety threats and only targeted gang members, convicted criminals and people who violated immigration laws. Some of the ones arrested will have to face criminal prosecution by the U.S Attorney’s office for illegal re- entry after deportation. For the ones who aren’t being criminally prosecuted they will be processed for removal from the United States. ICE has been prosecuting only criminals, those with orders of deportation, or who have returned to the United States prior to deportation. It is being said that reports of ICE sweeps, raids, checkpoints create intense panic for false reports. ICE is only looking for the ones being criminally prosecuted.
