On January 15, 2025, Manual Arts high school opened a new weight room located behind the school in Walton street. It was remodeled because half the equipment was broken, it was thankfully financed by a non profit organization, Impact Fitness Foundation, LA Sparks, and Chicas Verdes. Its purpose is for the after school programs and the sports clubs to use for working out, available for them at 3:30-5:00 p.m. after school.
The weight room has been a part of the school for a long time, being unusable and forgotten. Seeing the potential it had, Chris Welsh, the person in charge of Impact Fitness Foundation, offered to make it functional again. With the help of three non profit organizations, they were able to get enough funding for the weight room to completely upgrade. In being able to upgrade the room, they were able to also get new equipment, repainted the walls, and even placed fake grass.
The grand opening was on January 15, many students from different sport teams were invited, as well as staff members. The founder of Impact Fitness Foundation, Chris Welsh came to Manual Arts to tour and instruct students on how the equipment is supposed to be used. He gave many of our sports teams words of encouragement to do their best and strive towards working hard. Students took turns to use the new equipment and had competitions against each other. The room was filled with the joy and voices for the recently developed weight room.
