On January 8, 2025 school was cancelled due to the wildfires occurring in Los Angeles. The air quality was deemed so bad that schools were forced to close. The fires first started in the southeast part of the Pacific Palisades and we don’t know exactly how the fires started. Officials report that the Palisades fire has burned more than 23,448 thousand acres of land. The fires spread immensely throughout Los Angeles causing multiple fires. The Eaton fire located in Altadena was the second biggest fire burning 14,021 acres of land as well as the Hughes fire burning 10,425 acres of land in the North of Castaic Reservoir. More than 31,000 people had to evacuate due to the fires leaving people homeless and grieving. Multiple states of the United States of America came to help LAFD to help control the blazing fires. The city of Los Angeles ran low on water causing more challenges to the LAFD and other firefighters that had come to help put the fires out.
