Denim Day takes place in the month of April, which is Sexual Assault Awareness Month in may regions. This is a month of awareness  where people are encourage to wear denim to combat victim blaming and educate others about sexual violence. A girl who was 18-year old and raped by a 45-year old man who was a drivers education instructor. During her first lesson as a new she was sexually assaulted. The 45-year old man had the girl turn down an isolated road, where he forcibly took her jeans off and raped her. She then reported the rape and the predator was taken to jail. The 45-year old man claimed that they had consensual sex. As a result Denim Day was established more than twenty-one years ago, At the end of the trail,  the Italian Supreme Court overturned the rape conviction, because  the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, implying consent.
