According to a news release from the California department of education, state superintendent Tony Thurmond visited a high school in the Santa Ana Unified School District on Monday May 6, 2024 to celebrate the school teachers at their annual teacher appreciation breakfast. He engaged with all of the teachers and expressed his appreciation to teachers at the high school, as well as all the teachers around the state. He explained all of the help available for those who plan on becoming a part of the education system, and he also spoke about the $1.5 billion grant that is available for schools who want to include a higher education on their campus.
Manual Arts is also celebrating teacher appreciation week from May 6 to May 10. Students are encouraged to show their appreciation to their teachers, and staff by celebrating teachers all week on campus. On Monday 5/6 teachers went to the principals office to pick up an “appreciation gift”. On Tuesday 5/7 teachers will had free tacos during lunch time and the Tuesday Professional focused on “self care for teachers. On Wednesday 5/8 there was a breakfast set up for teachers in the main building from 7:30 to 8:30 am. On Thursday 5/9 teachers will received a “room service delivery” between 2:15 and 3:15 pm. Finally on Friday 5/10 teachers will received a “sweet treat” after school in the main building.
