UCLA Girls Mentor Program selects Manual Arts with an Uplift Initiative. The program started in January 2020, The Uplift Initiative is a student-run 501c3 nonprofit sponsored by the Girls club at UCLA. It provides peer to peer mentorship programs to Title I high school students aimed at empowering the next generation of leaders. Each member is paired with a UCLA mentor based on similar interest . They have partnered with local organizations , school communities, Mary’s Place, and the Redmond City Mayor’s Office, and many more. They offer mentorship services to middle and high school girls who come from low-income or poor living environments in the Los Angeles area. The Uplift Initiatives vision is to provide a professional educational network that can support less fortunate students who are trying to reach a higher educational level. In order to reach that goal mentees receive help from college mentors who share interests and passions with one another. Students work together on building experiences that’ll help them achieve their future professional and educational goals. Students interested in joining the program can speak with Ms. Alagala in room 220 .
