On October 16,2023 the Gear Up 4 L.A. program will organize a field trip for all juniors and seniors to U.C Riverside. The school will provide a bus to transport about sixty students to the university. Thanks to Ms. Conner, Gear up Site Coordinator at Manual Arts High School and Ms. Yates, our college counselor, for providing the students with this opportunity. Ms. Conner said , “it’s the final count down” for all seniors in preparation for graduation. She encourages juniors to start thinking about a college plan. Gear Up- stands for Gaining Early Awareness ad Readiness for Under graduate Programs . According to Ms. Conner, It is a federally funded program that works to address systematic barriers to student success after high school. Gear-up for L.A. offers a wide variety of programs to include advising and counseling to help build bonds with students.  They discuss mental heath issues and develop academic plans for students. Gear Up 4 L.A. offers family partnership to help empower families through workshops for their kids success, and academic support to ensure students stay on track to graduate,  College visits allow students  to explore college campuses , to find the perfect college that best suits them!
